Paul Messina
Paul has almost 20 years’ experience in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry, and is experienced in both commercial and domestic air conditioning and refrigeration. Paul has a variety of experience in the HVAC-R industry, including:
Installation, service, repair and maintenance of commercial air conditioning systems
Repairs, service and maintenance of commercial cold rooms and freezer rooms
Experience with different types of air conditioning systems including ducted air conditioning, cassette units, wall mounted systems, split systems, package units and under ceiling units
Diagnosing faults and reporting on issues
Installation and maintenance of light commercial refrigeration units
Installation, repair and maintenance of water cooling systems
Project management of air conditioning systems across multiple properties on behalf of real estate agents
Warranty agent for Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Rinnai systems.
DIRECTOR
Darren Mackedie
With over 18 years’ experience in the HVAC-R industry, Darren brings experience across all types of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning to the MAE team.
Darren is known throughout the industry as one of the leading technicians, with his experience across all refrigeration including cold rooms, supermarket rack systems, cold storage facilities utilising standard refrigerant and subcritical CO2 systems. Darren has Danfoss, Carel, Dixell, Innotech, and Siemens controls knowledge. Darren is always willing to share his vast knowledge of the industry to allow his fellow technicians to perform to the highest standard.
Darren thrives on tackling any technical issue with refrigeration and air conditioning systems. He will endeavour to rectify the problem or offer an alternative solution for his customers.
SERVICE MANAGER
Rion Marsh
Rion has worked in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry for 20 years, and brings experience in industrial and commercial refrigeration, and industrial, commercial and domestic air conditioning.
Throughout Rion’s career, he has worked across all types of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment, from chilled water to commercial refrigeration plants, and medium and low temp rooms. Rion has experience in automated controlling circuits, and provides services to commercial and industrial clients, including nightclubs, pubs, and supermarkets.
SERVICE MANAGER
Jarod Strooper
Jarod has over 8 years’ experience as an Electrician working with a range of commercial, industrial and domestic clients.
Jarod is experienced in all aspects of electrical work, including new circuits and lighting, switchboard upgrades, and the wiring and design of automated controlling circuits. As Electrical Services Manager, Jarod oversees the MAE Electrical team.

Our administration team have over 40 years’ combined experience in trades-based administration and accounts.
Supporting our technical team, our administration team ensure that our systems and processes run smoothly, and that the right people are in the right place at the right time.

Technical Team
The MAE technical team is comprised of a number of qualified tradespeople and apprentices ready to provide commercial cooling solutions to Cairns and Far North Queensland.
Our Refrigeration and Air Conditioning technicians specialise in all aspects of commercial air conditioning and refrigeration, while our Electrical team provide all aspects of electrical services across commercial and industrial industries.
Working 24/7 on call, our technical team are always available to ensure your service and repair needs are met when you need it.
